Meet The Directors
Mark is a graduate of QUB, and a Fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Building. He is currently Chairman of the ICE in Northern Ireland and has 26 years of experience in the construction industry, including Design, site and head office. Like all the other Directors, Mark is a strong advocate of the Partnering Ethos. Mark was appointed MD of the Building Division, including Farrans Homes, Farrans Healthcare and England, in 2004.
Eamonn is a graduate of QUB. He has 30 years experience with Farrans, and has been involved in many of the Province's major infrastructure projects. He has gained a wide breadth of experience across the full spectrum of estimating, site management, procurement and financial control. Eamonn was appointed MD of the Civil Engineering Division, including Farrans Utilities and Scotland, in 2004.
Clifford is a graduate of QUB and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry with Farrans, and has been a Director since 1994. Clifford has been involved in many of the major construction schemes in Northern Ireland, including the Belfast Cross Harbour Bridges. He has also championed Partnering and has been instrumental in developing the company's Health & Safety systems and procedures.
John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has 37 years experience with Farrans, covering all the different aspects of construction management, culminating in being appointed Director in 1994. John is Director in charge of Farrans Homes and the English Division and is a great believer of the teamwork approach.
Robert is a graduate of QUB and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has 30 years experience in construction contract management (over 25 with Farrans), and was appointed Director in 2002. Robert epitomises the culture of the company, and has developed strong working relationships with many Clients and industry professionals over the years, based on trust and openness.
David has been with Farrans for 28 years, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building. He manages the Quantity Surveying Department within the Building Division and has overseen its evolution along with the changes towards Partnering and openness, which David welcomes. This was rewarded in 2002, when he was appointed Director.
Kevin was appointed a Director in 2004, in recognition of his role as the main driver in developing our Utilities Division into a key sector of the company's business. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Ulster and a Member of the Institution of Engineers in Ireland. Kevin has over 20 years experience in all aspects of Construction Management, and has played a major role in developing the company's quality systems and procedures.

Sean is a graduate of QUB and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He joined Farrans in 1989 and was appointed Director in 2008. He oversees the Cost Management of Farrans' Civils in Northern Ireland & Scotland and also Farrans Utilities. He has gained considerable experience in NEC Partnering Contracts and has developed the Company's financial systems to suit the Open-Book approach of these forms.
John joined Farrans as a junior engineer in 1987 after graduating from the University of Ulster with a Degree in Civil Engineering. Since joining the company, he has worked on many of the landmark projects that have shaped our reputation for quality, value and innovation. He has lead the Healthcare Division to the successful completion of numerous projects within the healthcare sector. John's experience has been recognised by numerous professional bodies and most recently he presented to fellow healthcare professionals on “Sustainability within the Building Sector” at the University of Ulster. He is a past Silver Medal and Category Winner in the ‘All- Ireland Construction Manager of the Year’ Competition.
Alvar is a graduate of QUB and moved to Scotland to join Farrans from University in 1987. He was appointed Regional Manager for the Division in 2001 and has been responsible for the development of Roads and Infrastructure works for Clients such as Glasgow Harbour and marine and piling works for Clients such as BAE systems. The region has also developed a Utility branch to replace and repair pipelines for Scottish Water and other works within the division for 2008 will include the construction of schools within Dumfries and Galloway.
