Community praise for Farrans’ teams in Galway
We were delighted to see a recent letter published in the City Tribune recognising the efforts of our team delivering water infrastructure improvements on behalf of Uisce Éireann in Galway.
The letter from an anonymous reader offered a first-hand account of a project that involved replacing ageing cast-iron water mains in a residential area. While residents understandably anticipated significant disruption, the author described a very different experience.
“How wrong we were,” they wrote, reflecting on initial concerns about road closures, traffic management and disruption. Instead, the resident praised the team’s approach, noting that work was “carried out with good humour and care” and that the Farrans’ crew “bent over backwards to ensure residents were discommoded as little as possible.”
Particular recognition was given to the team’s efforts to minimise disruption through overnight working on the busy Newcastle Road. According to the letter, the crews worked so considerately that “they did it so quietly that, if they ever had to give up the day job, they’d make a tidy living as cat burglars because they disturbed absolutely no one.”
The author also highlighted the quality of the completed works, describing the resurfaced road as “the smoothest section of road in the county, with new markings and no bumps or potholes.”
Beyond the engineering works themselves, the letter acknowledged the care taken in restoring the local environment. Residents appreciated that the team “didn’t leave the place as they found it, they improved it,” noting that even the grass verges were replanted before the works were completed.
