Enoch Hill wind farm project wins Gold at National CCS Awards
Our Enoch Hill Wind Farm site for client RWE has been awarded a Gold Award at the Considerate Constructor Scheme’s National Awards for its ‘outstanding’ approach to following the code criteria.
The CCS National Awards winners are exceptional sites, organisations and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the Code of Considerate Practice in the areas of Community, Environment and Workforce.
In the report from the last audit on Enoch Hill, the auditor said:
“The performance under the ‘Respect for Community’ section has been maintained at the highest possible levels. There has been continued engagement with local communities, businesses, and worthy causes since the previous visit, and the site has done well in embracing all opportunities to present the construction industry in the best possible light. Under the ‘ Protect the Environment section, performance is also excellent. The rigorous waste management procedures have been maintained, with onsite segregation taking place, as well as the promotion of waste percentages and carbon footprint figures for the workforce and the public alike. The company continues on its route to NetZero Carbon status, and the works undertaken by the site are aligned to achieve this goal. The workforce is regarded as a valued asset by the procedures in place and the effort expended in looking after their occupational and personal health, safety and well-being. It was good to hear that the promotion of careers in the construction industry has continued between visits.”
The 15-turbine site is located in East Ayrshire and will be capable of producing up to 70MW of electricity, enough power for 68,000 average UK households.
We were responsible for the design construction and testing of all civil infrastructure works except for the design of the turbine generator bases. Ahead of starting construction, we were responsible for preliminary works, which included additional design and provision of documents to support the successful discharge of planning conditions.
Working in partnership with RWE, we helped them set up a Community Liaison Group which created a forum for open dialogue between members of the RWE/ Farrans construction team and the public through their local representatives.
