Explore Engineering Expo welcomes 1,500 students to Mid-Ulster Sports Arena
Farrans took part in this year’s Explore Engineering Expo, held at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown, an event which brought together more than forty leading employers and education providers to inspire young people considering careers in engineering, manufacturing and construction.
The Expo welcomed around 1,500 Year 10 students from schools across the Mid-Ulster region, offering them the opportunity to meet industry professionals, explore potential career pathways and gain a clearer understanding of how STEM subjects link to the world of work.
Organised by MEGA (Manufacturing & Engineering Growth & Advancement) in partnership with Magherafelt and Rural Learning Partnership and Construction Futures, the Explore Engineering Expo highlights the breadth of opportunities available across the STEM sectors and the key role these industries play in supporting local economic growth.
Representatives from Farrans engaged with students throughout the day, sharing insights into the company’s operations across building and civil engineering projects throughout the UK and Ireland. The discussions emphasised the range of technical and professional roles available within modern construction and the pathways available for young people to enter the industry.
Our participation forms part of our ongoing commitment to skills development, community engagement, and education outreach. We actively collaborates with schools, colleges, and training providers to promote STEM learning, create pathways into employment, and ensure a sustainable future workforce for the construction and engineering industries. Through initiatives like the Explore Engineering Expo, Farrans continues to strengthen its connections with local communities while inspiring the next generation.
