17.12.2024

Farrans has achieved a significant milestone in environmental excellence by winning a Gold International Green Apple Environmental Award, a prestigious recognition in the global campaign to identify and celebrate the greenest companies.

Selected from over 1,200 nominations worldwide, Farrans Construction received this coveted accolade at a glittering awards ceremony held at Kensington Palace, London, on 18 November. The event celebrated organisations committed to sustainability and innovative environmental practices, reinforcing the palace’s historic reputation.

The award was presented by Helen Kitchen, Business Development Manager of Yealands Wines of New Zealand – winners of The 2024 Green World Environment Awards – which takes those awards to New Zealand next spring.

The independent judging panel of The Green Apple Awards commented “This Farrans project established a cutting-edge recycling facility in Keynsham, enhancing recycling accessibility and sustainability while achieving a 99.13% waste diversion rate and significant emissions reductions through innovative eco-friendly practices.”

Kensington Palace served as a fitting backdrop, with its royal history and iconic status as a premier venue for hosting globally important events.

Victoria Johnston, Sustainability Advisor at Farrans, said: “This is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our project team at Keynsham Recycling Facility and our wider sustainability team. Sustainability is at the heart of our business. It guides our actions and the way we work. We are committed to managing our operations in a responsible way by adopting the key elements of sustainability – environmental protection, positive social impact and economic growth. We are proud to have the recognition of this important award.”
