Farrans tops fundraising table at Belfast Fives event
The Business Fives Winter Season 2024 Belfast Five-A-Side Tournament took place on Thursday, 28th November, at the Valley Leisure Centre.
Farrans had two teams taking part against corporate teams from across Northern Ireland for a day of intense football, networking, and charitable fundraising. The event encapsulated everything Business Fives is known for: passion, camaraderie, and making a difference off the pitch.
This season, Belfast’s businesses once again demonstrated their commitment to combining sport and charity, raising an incredible £4,153 for causes close to their hearts. Across 53 matches, the teams netted an impressive 325 goals, adding to the high-energy atmosphere of the day.
Leading the way in fundraising were Farrans, whose remarkable efforts brought in £2,478 for Movember.
On the pitch, there were plenty of standout performances, with individual talent shining through all over the place. Jamie from RSM earned the Top Goalscorer accolade with a fantastic fifteen goals, while Barry from Farrans Construction was awarded the Golden Glove for his impressive form between the sticks, conceding just six goals. Business Fives debutant, Ella from Options IT, was named Female Player of the Tournament, and Ryan from CME Group shone brightest in the Champions League final, earning him the Man of the Match award for his outstanding contribution.
CME Group emerged victorious in the Champions League final, showcasing their grit and skill to secure the coveted title. Champions League runners-up Farrans Construction – Team 2 put up a valiant fight, raising additional funds for their chosen charity.
Elsewhere, Millar McCall Wylie clinched the Europa League trophy, earning £150 for the Down’s Syndrome Association. Farrans Construction – Team 1 continued their stellar day by triumphing in the European Conference League, adding another trophy to their Top Fundraiser award in support of Movember.
As the final whistle blew, CME Group, Farrans Construction – Team 2, Millar McCall Wylie, RSM, Sumer NI, and iManage all booked their invites to both the Ireland National Final next October and Business Fives’ inaugural British Isles Final, set to take place in Leeds on Friday, 25th April 2025.
The Belfast Winter Season 2024 was yet another testament to the power of sport to unite, inspire, and give back. With over £4,000 raised on the day and countless memorable moments on the pitch, it was a celebration of everything Business Fives strives to achieve.
