Farrans’ project for Uisce Éireann lowers Lifford’s leakage and improves water quality for customers
Lifford’s water supply has received a major boost following Uisce Éireann’s successful completion of a 1km water mains replacement project along the N15 at The Haw, delivered by Farrans.
This important work has delivered a significant reduction in leakage and improved water quality for homes and businesses in the Lifford area.
The project also involved the installation of new water service connections from the public water main to customer boundaries, further strengthening supply in the area.
Farrans is proud to be delivering for the North West region under Uisce Éireann‘s new Water and Waste Water Multi-Supplier Framework, responsible for Donegal, Sligo, Roscommon, Galway, Cavan, Leitrim, Monaghan and Mayo. We have 70 direct staff and over 200 subcontractor staff engaged in this new contract, with 30 squads on the ground working on the installation of new water mains, the rehabilitation of existing mains, leak detection, waste water, connections and repairs.
Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, welcomed the completion of the works and thanked the local community for their cooperation while this essential project was underway: “Replacing this stretch of water mains along the N15 at The Haw has delivered long-term benefits for our customers, including improved water quality and greater confidence in their supply. Our crews worked hard to minimise disruption, and we are grateful to the local community for their patience and support as we delivered these essential works.”
