Farrans’ team takes part in volunteering day in Monaghan

31.10.2025

Ten volunteers from our Uisce Eireann team in Monaghan took part in a recent volunteering day at Dernagrew.

We have an office in Monaghan town where a team of 40 people are based to look after the North West region under Uisce Éireann‘s Water and Waste Water Multi-Supplier Framework, responsible for Donegal, Sligo, Roscommon, Galway, Cavan, Leitrim, Monaghan and Mayo.

As part of our corporate social responsibility programme the team planted 50 apple trees at Dernagrew. The event was organised in partnership with Monaghan Volunteer Centre, Monaghan Tidy Towns, Monaghan County Council horticulture staff and local residents.

Sinéad Keenan, Volunteer Centre co-ordinator said: “We are delighted with this corporate volunteering project. It has benefitted the company, the environment and the local community. It doubled the size of the orchard that was begun in early 2024, as part of a previous volunteering project. The trees were chosen with the guidance of Monaghan County Council horticulturist Michael Carroll, who also demonstrated the best way to plant a tree for the volunteers.”

“I’d like to thank Michael, his assistant Sinéad and in particular Emer Brennan of Monaghan Tidy Towns for their help in organising the project. And of course, thanks to Farrans and their staff for their valuable contributions.”
