Major water infrastructure improvement scheme progressing well in Tyrone

2.07.2025

A major Water Infrastructure Improvement Scheme being delivered by Farrans Glanua for NI Water in the Pomeroy/Carrickmore area of County Tyrone is progressing well.

This major improvement scheme, which got underway in early May, will continue until January 2027.

This £5.5m investment is good news for customers in the local area as the upgraded water infrastructure will improve the security of the local water supply and will help enhance drinking water quality.

Pipelaying is currently underway along the Termon Road area of Carrickmore under a lane closure. The works will then progress onto the following roads in the wider area:

  • Tremogue Road
  • Loughmallon Road
  • Devesky Road
  • Creggan Road
  • Tiroony Road
  • Whitebridge Road

The work will be completed in sections to keep disruption to a minimum. Please note access will be maintained at all times for residents who live within the works area.

Gary Mc Fadden, NI Water Project Manager said:

“I am delighted to announce that this major £5.5m Water Infrastructure Improvement scheme is progressing well. This is an important pipeline for the Pomeroy and Carrickmore areas of County Tyrone, which will ensure the ongoing provision of high-quality drinking water and security of supply to our customers in the area.

“I would like to thank the NI Water project team including our Customer & Operations colleagues, as well as our contractor Farrans Glanua JV for ensuring that this essential improvement work continues with minimal disruption to customers.

“We thank the public for their continued patience and cooperation, as there may be some delays in the area. The work will help deliver a more resilient, improved water supply network and help safeguard the local drinking water supply for many years to come.”

Further notifications will be issued as the works progress to keep local residents and business owners informed of key dates.
