Farrans, as part of a joint venture with Sacyr UK and Neopul have been awarded the Infrastructure and Systems contract.
Farrans are delighted to be part of a joint venture with Sacyr and Neopul that has now been awarded the Infrastructure & Systems Contract by the City of Edinburgh Council for the Edinburgh Tram York Place to Newhaven project.
The joint venture has worked hard throughout the procurement process that the council has implemented to get to this stage. The contract will involve design, construction, system integration, testing and commissioning of the extension to bring it into service.
This 4.7km route will have eight tram stops and will extend the tram line, which currently connects the airport with the city centre, to the north of the city. The project budget stands at £207m.
The Early Contractor Involvement stage will start imminently and will see us work closely with the Council, Morrison Utility Services, Siemens and other stakeholders to develop the design and planning of the project before moving forward to the main construction phase later in 2019.
Farrans has longstanding history in Scotland for over 70 years delivering many complex projects in various civil engineering sectors but we are particularly pleased to be at this stage of such a prestigious project.
We look forward to a successful ECI period and the main construction phase later this year.
