Over 120 children from Tullygally PS and St Anthony’s PS were the first pupils in Craigavon to get a very special visit from the Farrans ‘Safety Sam’ team as part of a school engagement programme for the state-of-the-art new South Lake Leisure Centre build.
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has appointed Farrans to build the landmark £35million facility, procured through the SCAPE framework.
Situated at the site of the existing Watersports Centre, adjacent to Craigavon’s Civic & Conference Centre, the centre will significantly enhance the Borough’s leisure opportunities with a varied range of indoor and outdoor facilities providing opportunities for residents, visitors, and athletes alike.
As the company has recently moved on-site to begin initial works for the development, the ‘Safety Sam’ team was keen to begin visiting local schools to deliver fun and interactive safety presentations emphasising that construction sites are not playgrounds and highlighting the dangers that children face if they trespass and play on the site.
The video and presentation showcased the many hazards associated with construction sites and re-iterated the ‘Safety Sam’ ‘Play Safe - Stay Safe’ motto.
Farrans' Safety Sam team is now making arrangements to visit other primary schools in the area whilst construction work is ongoing.
