Delivered in JV with Dowds, our East Midland CAVU Lounge Refurbishment project consisted of the strip-out of redundant walls, partitions, glazed screens, floor finishes and building services and replacement fit-out works. In addition, we undertook minor structural alterations and fit-out works to extend the lounge into an adjacent storage area to increase the overall capacity. New installations included:
- New feature ceiling rafts and light fittings
- New soft flooring
- Bespoke mirrored glass back bar and bottles display unit
- Arboretum seating area
- Bespoke joinery items
- New Building Services
- New and repurposed FF&E
Working closely with the client, we undertook a Value Engineering exercise to realign the original design with the client’s budget, this included:
o LVT Flooring Alternatives
o Alternative Wall Panelling
o Reduced Feature Lighting
o Alternative Joinery Laminates
Client
East Midlands Airport
The works were undertaken in an airside location for the entire duration, we complied in full with MAG’s security protocols. We gave 1-week notice given to MAG for all site deliveries, with all deliveries proceeding through security clearance for transport airside. We mandated no driving around the airport by any of the subcontractors except deliveries drivers who were issued with vehicle passes and personal passes. All subcontractor vehicle movements were escorted by either security or a Airside driving pass holder. There was zero disruption to passengers through careful phasing and temporary works.
Key outcomes:
• Accelerated programme to achieve critical handover date and 100% on-budget delivery
• 0 RIDDOR incidents
• Zero operational disruption to passengers and airlines
• Full ASIAD compliance achieved pre-construction
