Our Domestic Reclaim Baggage Hall project, completed in JV with Dowds, consisted of the design and construction of a new baggage reclaim hall at Stansted Airport.
Works involved the erection of a portal frame structure with a perforated metal façade. The new 497m2 structure consists of an expansive baggage collection area, containing a single reclaim carousel of approximately 36m presentation length with external loading capacity, as well as a plant room and welfare facilities. In line with ASIAD advice, our design included no internal waiting area. External works consisted of road way alterations, service diversions and landscaping works.

o 2030 – All airport infrastructure will operate on renewable energy.

Reducing operational carbon, passive infra-red (PIR) detection and CO2 sensing automatically inform the BMS to reduce ventilation rates from 6 air changes per hour to a reduced level of background ventilation (e.g. circa 1 to 2 air changes per hour, extract only) to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions when the toilets are not in use.
Air temperature is sensed local to the toilet areas to automatically inform the supply air temperature to achieve an adjustable set point of 22 °C ± 3°C. During unoccupied periods the air temperature within the toilet areas will be set back to an adjustable 16°C to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
We assumed full CDM responsibilities, including design risk elimination workshops.
