The Project
We are installing electric vehicle/bus charging infrastructure at Pennyburn Bus depot in Derry~Londonderry.
The works will see 25 hyper chargers installed in the Pennyburn Garage, enabling 50 buses to be charged sequentially overnight. This will see Derry~Londonderry become one of the first cities in the UK & Ireland to operate a fully zero emission urban bus service.
Services & Expertise
Farrans is contracted to install all the charging points, drainage and to construct a Low Voltage transformer building which will distribute power to the chargers and a High Voltage Switch room, which is connected to the grid network supplying the site with power.
The new fleet will start rolling out later this year. The introduction of the modern new battery electric vehicles will be a significant milestone towards cleaner, greener, sustainable transport choices.
Attracting more passengers, the fleet will help reduce carbon emissions, protect the environment and enhance air quality in the City for a cleaner, net zero future for the benefit of everyone.
