The Project

We have installed electric vehicle/bus charging infrastructure at Pennyburn Bus depot in Derry~Londonderry.

The works saw 22 hyper chargers installed in the Pennyburn Garage, enabling 44 buses to be charged sequentially overnight.  Derry~Londonderry has now become one of the first cities in the UK & Ireland to operate a fully zero emission urban bus service.

Services & Expertise

Farrans was contracted to install all the charging points, drainage and to construct a Low Voltage transformer building which will distribute power to the chargers and a High Voltage Switch room, which is connected to the grid network supplying the site with power.

The introduction of the modern new battery electric vehicles was a significant milestone towards cleaner, greener, sustainable transport choices.

Attracting more passengers, the fleet will help reduce carbon emissions, protect the environment and enhance air quality in the City for a cleaner, net zero future for the benefit of everyone.
