The Project

South Lake Leisure Centre (SLLC) is one of the largest capital development projects in the ABC region. The new leisure facilities will improve quality of life and wellbeing of residents.

The new leisure centre houses:

  • A 50m pool (with moveable floor level)
  • A 20m learner pool
  • A leisure pool
  • An extensive health and beauty suite
  • The largest gym in Northern Ireland (NI) measuring at 1000m2
  • An 8-court sports hall
  • Squash courts
  • A soft play area
  • A range of studios including dedicated spin & dance studios
  • An outdoor water sports adventure centre.  

The project was completed over two weeks early with an enhanced construction programme.

Services & Expertise

Through our blend of building and civil engineering experience, Farrans saved Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council £2.5m with value-added initiatives.

Farrans is a delivery partner on Major Works England and Northern Ireland, part of the National Construction framework for Scape Group designed to deliver construction projects. Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council decided on the Scape framework to deliver significant levels of local economic engagement, ongoing apprenticeship schemes and extensive community initiatives, therefore Farrans were awarded the SLLC contract.

Social Value

Farrans Construction has been awarded a STEM Inspiration Award for Outstanding Contribution to Widening Participation, Diversity and Inclusion in STEM for its educational work carried out while on site at South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon.
