The Project

This PPP scheme is one of 11 schools that is spread throughout eight locations in Dumfries & Galloway for the Dumfries & Galloway Council. This project build involved the design and construction of a secondary school as well as pre-five nursery also on site.

Services & Expertise

The school was built on a lengthened steel frame with precast upper flooring and includes the adoption of sustainable urban drainage systems used for storing excessive storm water. The external elevations are a mixture of materials that include brickwork, render, natural stone as well as metal and cedar cladding panels.

With the construction site being located next to the existing school, careful planning was needed to maintain access ways both for staff and pupils but also for the local community, giving them a direct route to existing play areas and the surrounding woodland.

The construction of the Wallace Hall Primary School & Academy occurred within a live teaching environment and thus required stringent policies  be put in place to ensure both noise and dust distraction were kept to a minimum.
