Charities receive our Christmas donations

21.12.2022

This year we opened a company-wide voting process to allow our people to select four charities that would receive a donation from Farrans this Christmas – one in each of the regions we operate in.

We are delighted to be able to support the following organisations, each of which are carrying out vital work to lift others in times of great need.

Scotland –  Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS)

For thirty years CHAS has been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. This includes palliative care, family respite and support – through our hospices, homecare services and hospital presence.

Ireland – SVP

Supporting people in poverty and disadvantage. The Society of St Vincent de Paul provide a wide range of services for vulnerable people through local offices, shops, resource centres, housing, day care and holiday schemes amongst other things.

“For the people that SVP support the kindness from your heart can help give them the strength to keep going. That’s the incredible lasting power of the gift your business can give today.

Whether your gift puts a turkey on the table… fills up a long-empty oil tank… or puts a few little presents in a child’s otherwise empty stocking… a family will never forget your kindness.”

Norther Ireland – Air Ambulance NI

Air Ambulance NI is the charity that works in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service to provide the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.  The team are needed on average twice per day and can be airborne in about 5 minutes and provide interventions at scene that can be the difference between life and death.  As a local charity that relies so much on fundraising in aid of the service, your support is crucial.  Each day, Air Ambulance NI needs to raise £5,500 and all contributions make a difference.

England – Cancer Research

The charity has been running for 20 years and specialises in funding scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner.

The organisation also provides cancer information to the public. Every step it makes towards tackling the impact of cancer relies on every pound donated.

It also stages various national fundraising initiatives and events.
