Dominic Lavery
Managing Director

Dominic Lavery is Managing Director of Farrans Construction, responsible for the strategic direction, operational performance, and continued growth of the business across the UK and Ireland.

Since joining Farrans in 2000, Dominic has held a range of senior leadership roles, overseeing the successful delivery of major infrastructure and building projects. A chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), he brings extensive commercial and operational expertise to the role.

Under his leadership, Farrans has strengthened its position as a leading construction and civil engineering contractor, with a clear focus on safety, collaboration, sustainability, and long-term value creation for clients and communities.

Stephen McCaffrey
Commercial Director

Stephen McCaffrey has been Commercial Director of Farrans since 2020. A Chartered Civil Engineer, Stephen has been with Farrans since the mid-1990s and has held a variety of roles across the business including Divisional Commercial Manager, Pre-Contract Manager, Design Manager and Project Director.

With over 30 years’ experience in the industry, Stephen has overseen the delivery of signature Farrans’ projects including New Wear Crossing in Sunderland.

Jonny Kerr
Operations Director – Civil Engineering

Jonny Kerr is the Operations Director for Farrans’ Civil Engineering division, a role he has held since joining the company in 2019. Jonny has 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, specialising in water, highways and bridges, marine, rail and flood alleviation. Jonny is a Chartered Engineer and a member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT).

He has been involved with complex infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland and leads with a focus on safety, planning, collaborative client and stakeholder relationships, supporting young talent and driving high performance through visible leadership.

Gerard McGirr
Strategic Development Director

Gerard is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland with over three decades of industry experience, including 15 years in senior leadership roles. As Strategic Development Director, he leads high-impact business transformation initiatives within Farrans, delivering measurable improvements in operational and commercial performance.

Gerard is recognised for his collaborative leadership style, strategic problem-solving, and commitment to professional development, having mentored numerous engineers to chartered status. He maintains influential roles across industry bodies and academic panels, contributing to sectoral advancement and organisational excellence.

Neil Sturdy
Pre-Construction Director – Civil Engineering

Neil is a Chartered Civil Engineer and manager with over 20 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry. He is regarded as a versatile, highly motivated, and diligent leader. Neil joined Farrans in 2002 as a Civil Engineering Graduate and has progressed through the roles of Project Manager, Contract Manager, Regional Director and now board-level Procurement Director.

Neil is naturally collaborative and builds working relationships with clients, aligning our delivery to their desired outcomes. He is always enthusiastic about a new venture and enjoys applying his industry experience to new challenges. Neil has excellent programme awareness, and his keen attention to detail ensures that projects are delivered on time, as well as meeting – or exceeding – our client’s expectations.

 

Darrell McGuckian
Operations Director – Building

Darrell is Operations Director for Farrans’ Building division where he provides strategic oversight and drives operational excellence across complex construction projects. With over 28 years of industry experience, Darrell is a seasoned leader known for delivering high-quality outcomes and building resilient project teams.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB), he is committed to upholding the highest professional standards and advancing continuous development within the industry. His strong leadership skills and collaborative approach have been key to cultivating enduring customer relationships and securing long-term business success.

Mark Beacon
Pre-construction Director – Building

Mark is a Chartered Construction Manager with over 37 years of experience in the building industry both in the UK and overseas.

Through 18 years with Farrans he has progressed through several key roles including Senior Quantity Surveyor, Bid Manager, Regional Quantity Surveyor, and Pre-Construction Manager, before being appointed to the board as Procurement Director.

In his role, Mark provides leadership across all preconstruction activities, ensuring bids are commercially robust and closely aligned with client objectives. By combining technical knowledge with sound commercial judgment, he helps position Farrans for sustained growth, operational excellence, and long-term success.

David Parr
Director

David has over 31 years’ experience in the construction industry with extensive experience of delivering major infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

He has built a reputation as a strategic and inspirational leader. David has successfully developed business strategy, leading complex change programmes, investing in the digital transformation of systems, implementing multi-functional integrated reporting processes and driving focus on operational and commercial delivery.

Helen O’Doherty
Head of People

Helen is a CIPD award-winning HR leader with a proven track record of operating at a senior level in several industries and playing a key role in the planning, development and delivery of organisational transformation. She has worked in the HR profession since 2003 and has gained a breadth of experience in the retail, manufacturing, professional services, hospitality and healthcare industries, before joining Farrans in 2023.

Helen’s expertise lies in executing an appropriate people strategy, including all elements of the employee lifecycle, and partnering with key stakeholders to achieve business goals. Skilled in strategic HR, Helen drives operational excellence, process improvement, culture and change management and delivers an exceptional employee experience.

Matthew Boyle
Head of Finance

Matt is an ACCA-qualified finance professional with over a decade of experience leading financial strategy, control, and business performance across construction, property, and technology sectors. As Head of Finance at Farrans he oversees all aspects of financial management, reporting, and compliance — supporting the business in delivering large-scale infrastructure and building projects across the UK and Ireland.

Recognised for a strong analytical approach and collaborative leadership style, Matt has a proven track record in optimising financial processes, improving reporting efficiency, and providing clear, strategic insight to both finance and operational teams.
