Farrans shortlisted for Contractor of the Year and Best Place to Work at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2026
We are delighted to be shortlisted in two highly-coveted categories at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2026 which will take place at the Dublin Convention Centre on 16th October 2026.
The Irish Construction Industry Awards celebrate the most innovative individuals and companies driving excellence in Ireland’s construction sector
Farrans is a finalist in the Contractor of the Year category and the Best Place to Work category.
Contractor of the Year
Our application for this award focused on our outstanding projects, operational excellence, innovation, social value, client satisfaction and health and safety.
Our stand-out project in Ireland is our Multi-Supplier Framework Agreement for the provision
of Water and Wastewater network services to Uisce Éireann. We are on site in the North-West
region responsible for Donegal, Sligo, Roscommon, Galway, Cavan, Leitrim, Monaghan and
Mayo.
This is an extensive project which operates across a large region covering rural areas with high
numbers of stakeholders. The framework approach is delivering better results for water customers in this region with an engaged team ready to respond as required.
What has made this project outstanding has been the results which have been generated from
this long-term working partnership approach. In the first year on the framework (2024)
Farrans laid over 36,000 meters of rehab mains, connected 478 new properties to the
network, repaired 1,300 leaks, leading to a saving of 15,000m3 of water per day. At that point
we had a team of 70+ direct employees and over 25 teams on the ground working on the
installation of new water mains, the rehabilitation of existing mains, leak detection and repairs.
We have grown to a team of over 90 people and 66 supply chain crews on the ground. We
have plans for a further recruitment drive in 2026 which will include positions for more
placements, graduates and apprentices.
The long-term pipeline of work has enabled us to invest and grow our operations with the
opening of new offices in Sligo, Letterkenny and Claregalway in the last two years. We manage
this work from a main office in Monaghan which is home to a large-team of operational and
support personnel.
Best Place to Work
Our application for this award has focused on Employee Engagement and Experience, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Initiatives, Learning, Development and Career Progression, Measurable Impact and Employee Outcomes.
Our Health and Wellbeing Committee launched our new Employee Health and Wellbeing Fund early this year which supports team-based wellbeing activities across our projects, departments and fixed locations. This fund is an investment in our people, our culture and our sustainable performance.
Brian White, Contracts Manager, Farrans said:
“This year our team of 90 working on our Uisce Eireann framework have benefited from the
support packages provided by our company in many ways. Some of the most impactful have
been our volunteering events – revitalising the gardens at Brookvale House and planting apple
trees in partnership with Monaghan Volunteering centre. We have also had great days out for
team bonding with Go Karting, Indoor Baseball, Basketball and a summer BBQ.”
