Make It Visible roadshow visits Castor Bay

9.02.2026

The Lighthouse Construction Charity recently brought their #MakeItVisible roadshow to our Castor Bay project – for client NI Water, delivering an informal and engaging session for colleagues from across site. Representatives from eight different companies working on the project attended the talk, which focused on mental health and wellbeing in the construction industry.

NI Water awarded Farrans-Glanua Joint Venture (JV) with a programme of works which will ensure the delivery of high-quality drinking water to over 250,000 customers in the Armagh and Down areas for the next 25 years. At the heart of the £34m scheme is the construction of a new state-of-the-art pumping station at Castor Bay Water Treatment Works, near Lurgan, to replace the existing facility built in 1970.

The Lighthouse team shared powerful lived experiences, sparking open and honest conversations about some of the real challenges people working in the construction industry can face, from the pressures of the cost of living, addiction and family responsibilities, to the emotional strain that can come with life’s ups and downs. A central message throughout the session was clear: it’s okay to ask for help and support is available.

As well as the group talk, the #MakeItVisible van provided a private and safe space where individuals could speak one-to-one with the Lighthouse team, ask questions and find out more about the range of free and confidential support services they offer.

Why Support Matters

Working in construction can be hugely rewarding but it also comes with its own pressures. Tight deadlines, long hours, physical demands and everyday life stressors can take a toll on mental wellbeing. Knowing where and how to access support makes a real difference, helping people cope with difficult moments before they become overwhelming.

Lighthouse Construction Charity exists to support everyone in the industry whether you’re struggling personally, supporting a colleague, or just want to find out more about mental health and wellbeing. Their message is simple but powerful: you don’t have to go through it alone.
