Mental Health Awareness Week in Farrans
It’s Mental Health Awareness Week (12th – 18th May) and with this year’s theme being ‘Community’ we are in the middle of a busy week of activities organised by our Health and Wellbeing Committee and delivered by our Health and Wellbeing Champions across the UK and Ireland.
Each event encourages us to reach out, share our stories and listen with empathy to those around us.
We have made a range of new resources available company-wide and have informative Lunch & Learn sessions scheduled as well as Tool Box talks.
We have opened a photography competition for all of our colleagues to encourage everyone to take the time to stop and notice – whether it is time with family, a breathtaking view or a moment in nature.
Here are a few of the events taking place at our sites and offices:
- Our Griffiths Farrans JV at Bristol Airport is hosting a Healthy Breakfast event.
- Our project team in Sonning Common held a team workshop and lunch yesterday.
- At Project Pipeline: County Durham and Tees Valley there is a badminton match and BBQ.
- Our team on NI Water is holding a Spike Ball tournament and lunch. (Don’t worry – we had to Google what Spike Ball was too.)
- There is plenty going on in our Scotland region including a fishing night, team BBQ and a workshop by the Lighthouse Club.
- On Uisce Eireann our Monaghan office is hosting a coffee and chat morning.
- At Belfast Grand Central Station our team is taking part in a breakfast, games and activities day.
- Our head office in Dunmurry is hosting a coffee morning and raffle event on Friday.
Farrans is committed to giving mental health the same level of importance as our physical health and that means that we have trained mental health first aiders on almost all of our sites, access to counselling whenever it is needed, GP anytime and industry leading courses such as Have the Conversation which provide our teams with the skills to manage mental health conversations with colleagues and peers.
