Progress milestone reached at Layer Water Treatment Works

We are on site at Layer Water Treatment Works (WTW) in Layer de la Haye where our client Essex & Suffolk Water is making essential upgrades to ensure a resilient supply of clean, clear and great tasting tap water to a large area.

We have completed the main concrete base slab including a number of plinths that will hold a structural steel frame along with a series of pipework. The completion of this concrete slab allows the critical path of the project to continue where we will install the steel frame and the pipework in phases before lifting and installing 10 Filter Tanks.

Works are also ongoing adjacent to the slab where we are installing and connecting all pipework.

This chemical free pre-treatment system will be built off-site, in the UK, to avoid disruption, prior to being delivered to the WTW and it is anticipated to be installed by Summer 2026. The plant will help to tackle impacts of climate change that can cause the raw water entering the site to be of a lower quality.
