Farrans wins Scottish Civil Engineering Award for Govan to Partick Bridge
Govan to Partick Bridge has been awarded the Regeneration Award at this year’s Scottish Civil Engineering Awards. We were the main contractors delivering for our client Glasgow City Council.
The Scottish Civil Engineering Awards are widely recognised as the highest honour for engineering excellence in the built environment. The awards showcase innovation and celebrate the vital contribution civil engineers make to our quality of life.
The winning projects were revealed at the Gala Lunch held on Friday 29th August at the EICC, Edinburgh, hosted by radio and TV presenter, Arlene Stuart, in the company of 250 guests.
The £29.5 million Glasgow City Region City Deal project, backed by both the Scottish and UK Governments, restored the historic link between Govan and Partick.
The bridge holds substantial significance on economic, environmental, and social fronts by creating connections not only between communities but also to various visitor attractions and institutions of national economic importance.
Additionally, it serves as a vital component of the active travel route linking the University of Glasgow’s campus at Gilmorehill with the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The Govan – Partick Bridge stands as one of the longest opening pedestrian and cycle bridges in Europe.
In July the project was also awarded Project of the Year (£20m – £50m) at the Construction News Awards 2025, an excellent award on a national stage.
