Farrans win Project of the Year for Govan to Partick Bridge at CN Awards

14.07.2025

On Thursday Farrans celebrated Govan-Partick Bridge winning Project of the Year (£20m – £50m) at the Construction News Awards 2025, an excellent award on a national stage.

We delivered the striking £29.5 million pedestrian and cycle swing bridge over the River Clyde for Glasgow City Council and Glasgow City Region. Since the public opening last September, there have been more than 820,000 crossings of the bridge by pedestrians, and 185,000 cyclist crossings.

It is a standout example of construction excellence as recognised by CN Awards—not only for its sophisticated structural design and engineering—but for outstanding safety, environmental care, community partnership, and tangible social and economic impact on Glasgow’s communities.

The judges said: “Congratulations to Farrans for their remarkable Govan to Partick Bridge project. This iconic structure was recognised by the panel for its vital role in reconnecting two communities. The judges said the project stood out for its complex and highly effective methodology, seamlessly blending off-site fabrication with advanced marine engineering, to create a lasting legacy for Glasgow.”

Congratulations to our client Translink for winning the Digital Construction Excellence category for revolutionary digital leadership at Belfast Grand Central Station.

The judges said: “A standout example of a digitally minded infrastructure client with a long-term, holistic vision, Translink is setting the pace for the industry.”

Farrans were also finalists in the Project of the Year £50m+ category for Gull Wing Bridge and Farrans Sacyr JV was also listed in this category for Belfast Grand Central Station. Our FS JV Project Director Duane McCreadie was a finalist in the Construction Leader of the Year category – all very well deserved recognitions.

Colin Marrs, editor of Construction News, commented:
